BJ's new nickname must have somthing to do with typefaces.

Because he's obsessed.. But I will say that it provides my family and I with much amusement.

I am eating one of my mint daisies that Jordan got me. They are "Delicious"..

1. When you see a dead thing in the road, do you try to see what kind of animal it was? Actually, now that I think about it, I do too. The other day I ran to the church buliding to fax something, and there was this dog just standing in the road on the other side. I honked at it and it moved off the road. But when I drove back just 10 minutes later... the poor doggie was dead. It was so sad! I almost turned around to go knock on the peoples' door and tell them but there was no way they could've rescued it. It was D-E-A-D. Vuurry sad.. I always try not to run over something that's already dead. Who wants road kill guts on their car?

2. When you go into a store, do you go straight to the sales racks, or do you look around the store first? I used to be a very strict sale person. All I ever really looked at was sales. I would always find this great piece, a shirt or skirt, but never anything to go with it, so I'd have this cheap piece of clothing and nothing to wear with it and so it sits in the closet, very lonely. Now I browse all over and pick up all kinds of stuff.

3. Are you susceptible to a sales pitch? No. Not at all. I laugh at those who are! Like all the suckers who buy the $30 nail buffing kit when they can get the same thing at Wal-Mart for a total of $5.

4. What is the number one thing you want for Christmas? My Hope Chest - it's a big thing 1/2 Birthday, 1/2 Christmas. But the other 1/2 Christmas is one of those plug in tea kettle things. But they're really expensive. So a pretty tea kettle will do (but not one of those tiny ones).

5. If you HAD to choose one, would you skydive or bungee jump? uuuhh.. Skydive. I don't like the idea of bouncing over and over upside down from a great hieght.

6. Where were you the last time you sneezed? And did anyone say "God bless you"? I was here in my house this afternoon sweeping the kitchen, and no one was here, and I'm not one of those people who says "bless me".

7. When you brush your teeth, do you also brush your toungue? Usually, but not every time. It depends on whether or not I'm in a hurry.

8. How much personal space do you require? It depends on who it is. If it's Jordan, Lauren, Holly, Poppy, or Momma.. I don't care. Anybody else.. sitting next to me - a couple inches, talking to me - about 2 feet.

9. Which do you prefer, silver or gold? Silver. I used to HATE gold. But it's warmed up to me.. I don't like it in large quantities though.

10. Do you like reality tv? No. It's entirely, and in every way unrealistic. Like "The Bachelor".. my mom watched it this season, and I caught some of it. It was SO stupid.

11. Do you like the old Parent Trap movie or the new Parent Trap movie better (you can insert your own movie-with-a-remake if you want)? It's tough, but I think I like the old one better.

12. What is your favorite movie that you're sure no one else likes? Luther. No matter how much I try I can't talk anybody into watching it. After you see it I'd probly have to change this.. Because it really is a good movie!

13. What is your favorite typeface? Monotype Corsiva. I just love it. It's very "me".

In attempting to look up the history for "Monotype Corsiva" I stumbled across this:

Ugh.. after 2 tries I can't make it show up. It's a picture. I'm frustrated. Fix it BJ.

Waiting..

I found this poem. It's very relevant right now.
Wait
by Russell Kelfer

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly, God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate...
and the Master so gently said,"Wait."

"Wait? you say wait?" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked, and I'm claiming your Word.

My future and all to which I relate
hangs in the balance and you tell me to Wait?
I'm needing a 'yes', a go-ahead sign.
Or even a 'no,' to which I'll resign.

You promised, dear Lord, that if we believe,
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry:
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply."

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate
as my Master replied again, "Wait."
So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut,
and grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting...for what?"

He seemed then to kneel, and His eyes met with mine...
and He tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

I could give all you seek and pleased you would be.
You'd have what you want, but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of My love for each saint.
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint.

You'd not learn to see through clouds of despair;
you'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there.
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
when darkness and silence are all you can see.

You'd never experience the fullness of love
when the peace of My spirit descends like a dove.
You would know that I give, and I save, for a start,
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

The glow of My comfort late into the night,
the faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you ask
From an infinite God who makes what you have last.

You'd never know should your pain quickly flee,
what it means that My grace is sufficient for thee.
Yes, your dearest dreams overnight would come true,
but oh, the loss if I lost what I'm doing in you.

So, be silent, my child, and in time you will see
that the greatest of gifts is to truly know me.
And though oft My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still "Wait".

I'm waiting on a lot of things right now. I'm waiting to hear about a job. I'm waiting for my 2 weeks notice to be up (it can't come fast enough), I'm waiting for Thursday to get here, I'm waiting for Sunday - I turn 18 but I don't know if that feels significant or not, I'm waiting to hear from the Lord, for my prayers to be answered in any way He deems appropriate.

Someone please kick me/Favor

I just spent the last hour typing out a word study on "favor" in here. And then I accidentally closed it when I opened up the task manager. I was attempting to close this stupid pop-up we keep getting, and closed this screen instead. Maybe I'll re-type it later..

The reason I was putting it here, and the jist of it was this: Favor in the OT is being found acceptable to God, also it's attaining his grace, or it can even mean "face". Favor is found through righteousness - as is shown by the lives of those in the OT who had the favor of God - or through the seeking of wisdom. In gaurding wisdom to your heart, you gain the favor/grace of God. It is also notable that in some cases, in seeking the favor of God, you seek his face. (You're just gonna have to take my word for it. I had all the strongs definitions, and scriptures to back it up.. it's on blueletterbible)

Favor in the NT only has one meaning. The word is:

Charis - khar-ece 1) grace

a) that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness: grace of speech

2) good will, loving-kindness, favour

a) of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues
3) what is due to grace

a) the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace

b) the token or proof of grace, benefit

1) a gift of grace

2) benefit, bounty

4) thanks, (for benefits, services, favours), recompense, reward

We're all familiar with the scripture that says that Jesus "increased in knowledge and stature and gained favour in the sight of God and man" (Luke 2:52).. Notice it says God AND man. So one of the other scriptures that uses this word is Acts 2:46-47, which we are all familiar with:

"And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."

So.. the way I read that it says that they had house church, were unified and happy, praised God, and showed the merciful kindness of God to the people, exerted His holy influence upon souls, turned them to Christ, kept, strengthened, and increased them in Christian faith, knowledge, and affection, and kindled them to the excercise of Christian virtues. And the Lord added to the church.. Think about what that means for us in the home church. I don't think we have even half that.

The favor of God is like His trademark. It's a stamp He puts upon those whom he approves of. It makes it obvious to everyone who you serve. Think about all the people in the old and new testaments who had the favor of God: Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David, Solomon, Esther, Ruth, Elijah, Daniel, Peter, John, Paul... God's favor was obvious.

It makes me think about where I stand. The thing that got me thinking about this is that I had a job interview today that went very well. I'm going to have a second interview with them next week. It's a very large company and very good position. The fact that they would even consider me is unbelievable. It's apparent that I have favor with these people, and with the placement agency I'm with. But I wonder what that is even worth if I don't have favor with God. Nothing really. Earthly favor with man is temporary and can be taken away or destroyed. But favor with God is invaluable.

The question is, what now must I do? When I really look at my life I can't say that it has such an obvious stamp upon it. I don't measure up the the standard for His favor. Just what does that mean? Where does that put me? Something I don't want to forget is that the favor of God only exists to bring Him more glory. It exists to humble me further. His favor will only rest upon those who are righteous. The only thing righteous in me is Jesus Christ.

So my prayer... purge me of me.

God is always reminding me that I'm just in the beginning. Once again, I marvel at how far I have to go, and i'm in awe of His mercy that would allow me to dwell with Him even now, in my unperfected state.

The travail of my soul

"Qualification for Serving the Lord’s Purposes - The Lord does
really need men and women to serve His ends.... His need may
be very great, and yet He may not be able now to open the way
for you to come in to serve Him. . . The Lord is waiting until your
heart is broken over this whole situation... It must be a matter of
heart-love for the Lord and for what is His, and not for the work,
the ministry; not for anything but for your Lord and what is His.
When you get there, and you are found upon your face before the
Lord breaking your heart because you see He is not getting what
He ought to have, when this becomes the travail of your soul, you
will find the Lord will begin to do something."

-T. Austin-Sparks.

I want this.
